Good episode. A 'hot rod' (to some) are pre-1955 American automobiles. Most commonly '34 Ford with a modified ('souped up') 'flat head', or a Cadillac or Oldsmobile V-8 (Cadillac was the first GM branch to introduce V-8s). A 'muscle car' is a 1964 through 1972 American automobile. Basically a factory hot rod. The formula was an intermediate (mid size) automobile with the engine of a full-size car.
